Almost everyone, Vietnamese or foreigner, who comes to Hanoi, wishes to visit President Ho Chi Minh Historical Monument to learn about his life and express their respect to the national liberation hero and the world's cultural celebrity. President Ho Chi Minh Historical Monument, located on the grounds of the Presidential Palace, is the place where he lived and worked for the longest time during his revolutionary life (from December 1954 to September 1969). Covering over 14 ha, the Historical Monument area consists of 16 works, with some having existed for over 100 years and others for about 40 years. Some works have great value, such as Ho Chi Minh's house-on-stilt where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from 1958 to 1969. It reflects the simple and modest life of the beloved father of the Vietnamese people who devoted his whole life to the country and its people; House 54 where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from 1954 to 1958; Politburo's meeting hall where the decision on the offensive and upspring in the spring of 1968 was made; House 67 where the Politburo held meetings and where President Ho Chi Minh was in convalescence and passed away; the Presidential Palace's flower trellis where President Ho Chi Minh usually received his guests; Road bordered with mango trees where President Ho Chi Minh usually took a walk after working hours and took morning exercise; "Ho Chi Minh Trail" where he usually exercised with a hope to have good enough health to visit the southern people in his last years; "Uncle Ho's Fish Pond" covering an area of 3,320m2 with the depth of 3m where many species of fish are raised.
Nearby the President Ho Chi Minh Historical Monument complex is the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where the great leader of Vietnamese people lies at ease for ever and ever; the Ho Chi Minh Museum that presents President Ho Chi Minh's life and revolutionary cause; and One-Pillar Pagoda with its unique architecture that has a shape of square with each side of 3m and a curved roof. It was placed on a big stone pillar which is approximately 4m high (excluding the underground section) and 1.2m in diameter. It was built in August 1049, under the Ly Thai Tong Dynasty.
