This is the first time the IPhO is organized in Vietnam, and  Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) was selected as the main executing institution for  organizing the IPhO 2008. What do you think about this event?
It is a great honour for the HNUE to be chosen as the main executing institution for the 39th International Olympiad. The HNUE has had a good reputation not only in educational training and scientific researches but also in successfully organizing many important events similiar to the IPhO. All of us have been working really hard together to do our best in making the IPhO 2008 a successful one.

There are many activities of the IPhO 2008 that will take place in HNUE, especially the experimental exam. How did HNUE prepare for this?
We are pleased to offer all of our resources, both physically and mentally, to prepare for this special event. It's hard to put everything into details but you can witness the HNUE's contribution through the list of different committees of the 39th IPhO, the volunteer teams consisted of many students from HNUE, and the well-prepared experimental exam's halls.

We have learned that the Vietnam team has been trained in the Department of Physics of HNUE. In a few sentences, could you please give us a brief description about the Department of Physics and its role in HNUE?
We are currently living in a historical period as the world is changing so rapidly. In order to plan, develop, and implement correctly the top technology products, we must have good understanding and knowledge of physics. Therefore, the Department of Physics has a very important and critical role in the HNUE. In the last few years, the Department of Physics has taken part in preparing and training the Vietnamese Olympiad team and has received significant achievements.

What messages would you like to give to the IPhO 2008 participants and guests?
On behalf of our students, faculty and staff of the HNUE, I would like to welcome all of you to the 39th International Olympiad in Vietnam and especially to our University. I hope that you will have a pleasant time and wonderful memories during your stay here.
To all the IPhO 2008 contestants, the symbol of intelligence and messengers of peace and friendship, their participation in this Olympiad not only signifies their enthusiasm for starting a glorious path of science, but also helps strengthening the bonds and friendships among nations all over the world.
