Team leader of Italy: Paolo Violino
It was a good experimental exam but a little bit long to do in such limited time. I hope we could get medals in this IPhO. I actually have been a team leader before. I started working on the Physics Olympiads since 1989 when Poland was the host country. I came to Vietnam 6 months ago but only to the South and Central Vietnam. I think Hanoi is an interesting place, I like the way life goes on here except for the traffic. I think IPhO plays a significant role in exchanging knowledge between different countries and demonstrates better development in physics education all over the world.
Team leader of Israel: Eli Raz
My students couldn't finish the exam because it was too long. The experimental exam was easier than the theoretical one but it's hard to determine how many percent they completed. I think we might be able to get a bronze medal. The results depend on a lot of things since the medal distribution is determined by the marks of all students. We did our best and I'm sure we'll get corresponding points. After this, we will get back to our country and form the next team to prepare for the 40th IPhO. I think the water-puppet show was really unique and beautiful, I had never seen anything like that before. It also revealed a lot about Vietnamese culture which was very interesting. Vietnam is a good place to visit with nice atmosphere and friendly people.
Team leader of Srilanka: Ramal Coorey
I think the experimental exam was not difficult. The students actually did the theoretical pretty well except for the last question. We couldn't have a lot of training before we came here. We have one student who is a bit better than other students so we are hoping that this student will get a high prize. IPhO is a good chance for every country to participate. It not only enables people from different countries to compete in advanced physics but also to exchange knowledge and cultures.
Team leader of Greece: Sarantos Oikonomidis
My students said that the experimental exam was not as difficult as the theoretical exam. However, I don't think our students will get very high points since we're not as competent at physics as other students. Yet I'm proud of my students and I believe that they did their best in this exam. I really liked the water-puppet show, especially the Dragon part.
Team leader of Iran: Ahmad Shariati
My students said they did the experimental exam neither bad nor well, just at an average level. The test was not very complicated but it was so long with plenty of questions. I think this exam was more difficult than other Olympiads. This is the first time I've been to Vietnam and I enjoyed the water- puppet show. It was a very beautiful show and I'm looking forward to coming back to Vietnam.
Team leader of Thailand: Piyapong Sithikong
I enjoy my trip here in Vietnam, everything is great and the people are friendly. I like Viet-namese food but the taste here is different from some Vietnamese restaurants in my country. If I had a chance, I would like to try more local food. The exams this year were interesting but much harder than the high school program in Thailand. Our students did the experimental exam better than the theoretical one although we had never done it before. I was hoping for a gold medal but not anymore after the first exam, my students didn't do it very well but I do hope for the best results.
Team leader of Norway: Trond Ekern
My students said they didn't do the experiment exam very well yet a lot better than the theoretical one. We did not have very much preparation and I'm not sure how many points they might have got. This is my first time in Vietnam and I liked the water-puppet show very much. I'm going to have a vacation with my family after IPhO and maybe I will come back to Vietnam. Your country is wonderful!
Team leader of Turkey: Gunal Ibrahim
The water-puppet show was very good. I'd never heard of water puppetry before. The background music was excellent. I'd love to have a CD of the songs.
Team leader of Bulgaria: Miroslav Abrashev
My impression here in Vietnam is actually greater than what I expected. The people and the places are very nice and I am excited to see the famous Halong Bay. The newsletters are interesting with the introduction about your country and the fun last page. I love them so far. The experimental problems were not hard but some were so tricky that you need to be very careful if you don't want to measure the figures again and again. It was a very good experimental exam. We would be very happy if we could get bronze medals.
