What's on the contestants' mind right now?
(String) - Interview contestants after the theoretical exam.

Abdulmusa Wwir Olalekan Sanni (Nigeria)

The openning ceremony cannot be any better. I really enjoyed it a lot. The theoretical exam today was very difficult but I did the best within my ability.

Lukas Ledvina (Czech Republic)

The exam was not long but was a lot more difficult compared to last year. I have left problems unsolved but I will try my best in the experimental exam.

Bonnie Zhang (Australia) (female)

The theoretical exam was harder than I expected. To me, it’s not a big deal that I am a female in this competition even though people may notice.

David Gogichaishvili (Georgia)

The test was too long so I couldn’t finish writing down all the answers. My hands are so tired now. I talked to people from some of the strong teams and they also thought the test was difficult. I hope I will receive a bronze medal in this competition.

Greece  team

The test was very difficult. I think I could get only 1 over 50 points but I don’t mind the result. I’m happy to be here and I’m enjoying it. The opening ceremony was wonderful! Especially the girls with scarves, they are beautiful and the dance was so great. I love it!

Norway  team

The test was hard. I’d say I did less than 50% for all of us. We will try our best in experimental test.

Mexico  team

The test was really hard. We could only solve about 1/3 of the problems.

Tosi and Gustavo (Argentina)

The opening ceremony was really fun. We liked the dancing a lot and we loved the beautiful colors of all the countries. The exam was really hard and long. We thought it was going to be about movement or magnetism but it was all about traditional physics. It was totally a surprise to us. We didn’t have enough time to solve all the problems. I think we would need 15 hours to solve those problems, not 5 hours!

Switzerland team

The ceremony was really good. It was great seeing all the contestants from other countries. We liked the performances, especially one with the little kids. We thought they were really cute. We have no comments about the exam. It was very hard, much more difficult than last year. We didn’t have a clue. We think it would probably take us a week to solve these problems.

Maskim Stepanenko (Kyrgyzstan)

The exam was OK. The problems were really difficult. I only finished 60% of the exam. I don’t think I can solve it even now. The other 30% I had no idea how to do it. I couldn’t solve some problems although I understood them.

Eiichi Matsumoto (Japan)

The performances were beautiful. My favorite part was all the songs. The exam was very difficult!

Sarah and Maryam (Kuwait)

The opening ceremony was very beautiful. Our favorite part was the little kids’ performance. It was really cute. The exam was very difficult but we did our best. I only could finish 50%.

Samoylov Leonid (Russia)

Well, many students said that the problems were hard and maybe they did worse than us. But I think China and some Asian teams actually did it better. I am a little bit tired but I am ready for the experimental exam.

Zhuoran He (China)

The exam was very difficult but I think I did my very best. I really enjoy visiting the ceramic village. Everything here is so impressive. I should have brought my camera with me because there are so many things I want to take pictures of.
